Supported Employment

Since September 2000 Sunshine has offered supported employment services to people with developmental disabilities. Services include job coaching, job training and employment assistance. Some clients work at paid jobs in the community or at Sunshine while others volunteer or take classes. Sunshine workers perform tasks such as delivering mail, making and selling baskets, recycling trash or packaging dog treats. For those who are too medically fragile to hold jobs, Sunshine has developed a day program combining work-related tasks and other stimulating activities. Animal Activities



Sunshine is home to three rabbits, two goats and two llamas. These critters are not only cute, but provide opportunities for therapeutic activities that benefit Sunshine residents. Participants in Sunshine’s supported employment program help staff feed and care for the animals. Sunshine residents and clients strengthen their fine and gross motor skills by brushing and walking with the animals. Other community groups who serve people with disabilities are also starting to visit the barn area. In the future, there are plans to expand the program with the addition of a vegetable garden and other farm-related activities.


Therapy Services

Sunshine offers speech, physical and occupational therapy services on both a contract and an individual basis. Volunteer Opportunities

If you have a love for others and a desire to spend time with people with disabilities, Sunshine can create a volunteer opportunity that’s perfect for you. Volunteers assist with special events, spend one-on-one time with residents and help residents enjoy worship services or recreational activities.
